The second installation of Sony’s Spiderman reboot promises to have more angst, more villains, and a set up to have the franchise expand. This is the second movie in a possible trilogy of The Amazing Spiderman movies. Now the first series (trilogy) was very successful and when a reboot was announced I did what any comic fan would do (insert collective groan). But I can and will say I was very pleased with the Andrew Garfield Spiderman. The characters were updated for modern audiences while remaining slightly true to the original comics (thank goodness no organic webshooters). This second movie due in May seems to fall in the neverending trap of too much for someone to digest.
Why do I say this? Well How many villains do you need to show onscreen? Let me count (Rhino, Electro, Green Goblin) thats three so far and prepping for a Sinister Six spinoff. Well it’s a little too late for them to take my suggestion so I hope each character gets screen time that is worthwhile and not just over blown cameos to legally keep the name and movie rights (see where I am going
here). The character redesigns while nice in some instances prove to be unoriginal. (Anyone else notice electro looks like Black Lightning from DC comics).
Though I am excited for this movie just like every comic fan out there.
Does anyone else think Hollywood is doing too much?
